Prince’s Grant Coastal Golf Estate, established in 1994, has matured into one of the most prestigious residential Estates in Kwa Zulu-Natal. Prince’s Grant was previously a portion of the Hyde Park farm. The small house on the beach behind the fifteenth green was the first building on the property and has been retained in its original form. Although it has been redesigned, the remaining foundations were originally built by the Bodasings seventy or eighty years ago. When the Prince’s Grant Estate development was designed, it differed from most golf course estates in that the golf course took precedence and was given priority when the land was laid out for its final uses. The care and priority given to the design of the course is evident when looking at the magnificent fifteenth hole which occupies prime real estate that in most developments would probably have been allocated to housing. Since opening in 1994, the Prince’s Grant golf course has earned a reputation for excellence. The golf course has a links/parkland layout, designed and constructed by Peter Matkovich, and is laid out over four ridge lines overlooking the Indian Ocean.
